Why Is It Worth Going To Lombok?

While you are visiting Bali, you should definitely consider going to Lombok. The island is only a 20minutes flight from Bali and definitely deserves to be experienced. Whether you are a traveler looking for a deeper dive into the culture, a couple searching for a romantic getaway, someone who desires some tranquility, or even a sports addict seeking adrenaline, Lombok is your island.

BAU NYALE FESTIVAL
The recommended time to spend in Lombok is 3 days to one week. It’s even better if you can make it while the Bau Nyale Festival is going on. It happens once a year and aims to remember a princess who drowned herself to escape a political marriage so that her island could stay at peace. According to the locals, sea worms appear around that time to represent her. Therefore they catch, then cook and eat them for good luck. Locals happily share this tradition with tourists.

SPORT ON LOMBOK
But the island of Lombok is also synonymous with beautiful nature. You can see pink beaches there but also amazing waterfalls like Tiu Teja, Tiu Kelep or Benang Kelambu. For the more adventurous people out there, there are different trekking tours offered to go to the top of Mount Rinjani. It is the second tallest volcano in all Indonesia and is considered to be sacred. It is also known to be a tough trek, but the views on the lake are definitely a must-see once you are up there.

If you still have some energy left, Lombok is considered one of the best places for some world-class surfing. You can even try some kitesurfing if there is wind. Not to mention they are currently building a new moto GP street circuit. Looking for some adrenaline? You can get it here.

RELAXED AND MORE INTIMATE VIBE
If you are looking for a more relaxed ambiance, Lombok is also less crowded and, therefore, more tranquil. The roads are still empty from one white beach to another. You will not get any traffic jams there. It can be the perfect spot for couples looking for more intimate moments. But without being too far from excellent restaurants, yoga places, cafes and bars in Kuta Lombok.
